Communication We keep parents up-to-date on school life in a variety of ways, including letters, emails and the school website.
Date Protection
We are committed to our responsibilities under the Data Protection Act.
Emergency School Closures
We use a variety of methods to contact parents in the event of emergency school closures (e.g. due to heating breakdown, exceptionall heavy snow, etc.). Please keep the school office up-to-date with your contact numbers (home, work & mobile numbers, as well as alternative contacts such as relatives).
Exam Timetable
We will publish the 2012 GCSE timetable in the Spring 2012 term.
First Aid
A large number of staff and helpers are First Aid trained and we update that training on school INSET days. Students who feel unwell or are injured should inform a member of staff, who will contact a First Aider if they aren’t trained themselves.
Leave Of Absence
We don’t encourage parents to take their children out of school during term-time but the Head Teacher may authorise absence in exceptional circumstances.
Lost Property
By the end of term quite a collection of lost property has usually built up. We try our best to reunite students with their jumpers, memory sticks, ties, etc., but it is difficult if their belongings aren’t marked. We are a small school so their name is enough. Permanent marker is quick and easy to use and is quite sufficient.
Lunchtime
The lunch break is from 12 noon until 12:45. We eat packed lunches in the old church building. Students are on rotas to set up the room with tables and chairs and tidy/vacuum afterwards (supervised, of course!). We don’t allow children to leave the school during breaks.
Kingsfold Cyber Learning
We have a Moodle Virtual Learning Environment, which we call Kingsfold Cyber Learning. This allows staff to upload homework assignments, notices, links to good websites, etc. All students have their own logins and parents can apply to gain access as well. Contact Mrs Scott in the ICT Department if you would like a login.
Music Tuition
Music is taught to all students from Reception and is an optional subject at GCSE level. Additionally, peripatetic teachers come in to school to give extra instrument lessons, for an additional charge. Contact the school office for further information. Cal: 01772 813824.
Open Days
We conduct a number of Open Days throughout the school year, when parents, relatives and visitors are welcome to come in to see the school in action, meet staff and students and ask questions. We will post the next Open Day on the website.
OFSTED
The school was last inspected in Autumn 2009 and we can expect another visit sometime in 2012.
Parents’ Evenings
Parents Evenings are generally held in September and January. We will post dates on the website and send information in letters home with children.
Results Days
Year 11 students are invited to come in to school on GCSE Results Day each August to be given their results personally by the Head Teacher. Those who are away on holiday can leave a phone number with the Head for him to call them.
Study Leave
Depending on their progress, Year 11 are usually granted study leave after Spring half-term (Whit). Parents will be kept informed by letter or email, as well as on the website.
Uniform
The current uniform list is available on the website.
