KS3 ICT

During KS3 students will have one lesson a week in formal ICT – it is also incorporated in other subjects.

Students study a variety of practical tasks using different software applications.

Desktop Publishing
Internet Research
Introduction to Spreadsheet Modelling
Presenting to an Audience

Year 8

Web Design
Using Databases
Introduction to Graphics
Introduction to Animation
Creating Sound
Video Editing
Preparation for KS4 ICT

KS4 ICT

Students from the end of Year 9 through to Year 11 work on the European Computer Driving Licence – at Levels 2 and 3. To acehive the equivalent of a GCSE (Level 2), students complete the following modules:

Module 1 – Computer Theory (security)

Module 2 – IT User Fundamentals

Module 3 – Word Processing

Module 4 – Spreadsheets

Module 5 – Databases

Module 6 – Presentations

Module 7 – Internet & Email

Extra Unit – Improving Productivity Using IT

 

Students who complete the ECDL to Level 2 can go on to Level 3 (Advanced), which covers:

Advanced Word Processing

Advanced Spreadsheets

Advanced Databases

Advanced Presentations

 

Extra Curricular

The ICT Department has a weekly lunchtime clinic for students who need help either in ICT itself or in using technology to help them in other subjects.
